Spring is… Freestyle Wrestling Time High school wrestlers in all other areas of the country where exceptional wrestling is happening, such as Pennsylvania, Ohio, Iowa, New York, and New Jersey (just to name a few states), all switch to Freestyle Wrestling in the Spring. Freestyle is the international wrestling style, the Olympic style. Wrestlers and parents in the best wrestling states know this, and know how important it is the learn freestyle. Wrestling freestyle will help a wrestler learn some of the most important wrestling positions such as the front headlock, finishing shots cleanly without getting stuck underneath opponents, better turks, better leg rides, better defense to all positions, the list goes on and on. 90% of all top college wrestlers were high school freestyle wrestlers. Brent Metcalf won 3 junior national freestyle championships. Ben Askren, Dan Gable, John Smith, and Cael Sanderson all won junior national freestyle titles! None of these athletes would be as tough, talented, and competitive today without freestyle. Freestyle also allows a wrestler to get away from the grind of folkstyle (aka high school style) wrestling. If you are interested in becoming the best wrestler around, then spring and summer freestyle wrestling can get you there. And BrickHouse is the only wrestling Club in the area where top level freestyle is happening.
